Dive Conditions
Penemu is an exceptional dive site located at Groot Fam Island in Indonesia’s renowned Raja Ampat Islands, situated in the Halmahera Sea of West Papua. This Pacific Ocean destination offers stunning coral formations and diverse marine biodiversity typical of the region’s pristine waters.
Divers exploring Penemu encounter vibrant coral gardens, including both hard and soft corals that create spectacular underwater landscapes. The site hosts abundant marine life, featuring reef fish schools, rays, and frequent shark sightings including reef sharks and occasionally larger pelagic species. Nudibranchs and other macro organisms are also present for observant divers.
The dive depth typically ranges from 12 to 35 meters, accommodating both intermediate and advanced divers. Moderate to strong currents are common, making this site suitable for experienced divers with good buoyancy control. Visibility generally exceeds 20 meters, providing excellent conditions for photography and observation.
