Rocky Point Bay at Huyong Island in Thailand’s Similan Islands offers an exceptional diving experience in the Andaman Sea. This site features dramatic granite boulder formations and rocky outcrops that create fascinating underwater landscapes and numerous crevices to explore.
Divers encounter vibrant coral gardens, schools of tropical fish, and diverse marine life including barracuda, jacks, and occasionally reef sharks. The rocky terrain provides excellent macro photography opportunities with nudibranchs, crustaceans, and smaller reef species among the crevices.
Depths range from 5 to 25 meters, making Rocky Point Bay accessible to intermediate and advanced divers. Currents can be moderate to strong, depending on seasonal conditions, requiring good buoyancy control and navigation skills. Visibility typically ranges from 15 to 30 meters, ideal for observing the site’s structural complexity and marine biodiversity.
The site is best dived during the dry season from November to April when sea conditions are most favorable. Rocky Point Bay combines geological interest with rich marine life, making it a popular destination for experienced divers exploring Thailand’s premier diving region.
