Dive Conditions
Matlang Island, located near Samui Island in Thailand’s Gulf of Thailand, offers an excellent diving destination for intermediate to advanced divers. This site features rocky outcrops and boulder formations creating dramatic underwater landscapes with depths ranging from 12 to 25 meters.
Divers encounter vibrant coral gardens surrounding the rocks, with abundant tropical fish species including trevally, grouper, and fusiliers. The site is known for regular sightings of reef sharks, barracuda, and occasionally larger pelagic species. Macro enthusiasts will appreciate the diverse nudibranchs, shrimp, and small crustaceans hiding within crevices.
Strong currents are common at Matlang Island, making it suitable for experienced divers comfortable with drift diving. Visibility typically ranges from 8-15 meters depending on seasonal conditions. The site is best dived during dry season months when water conditions are most favorable.
