Explore Crynoid Canyon at Nuso Kode near Rinca, a spectacular dive site in Indonesia’s Komodo region. This intermediate to advanced dive features dramatic underwater topography with steep canyon walls and boulder formations descending to depths of 25-40 meters. The site showcases abundant marine biodiversity typical of the Sumba Strait’s nutrient-rich waters.
Divers encounter vibrant coral gardens, including impressive displays of crinoids and soft corals adorning the canyon walls. Pelagic species frequently patrol the site, with encounters including reef sharks, trevally, and barracuda. The strong currents characteristic of this area attract larger fish species and create dynamic diving conditions.
The canyon’s complex terrain offers excellent opportunities for underwater photography and exploration. Visibility typically ranges from 10-20 meters, depending on tidal conditions and season. Best diving occurs during slack tide periods when currents are more manageable.
