Banana Reef, located off Nuso Kode near Rinca in Indonesia’s Komodo National Park, is a premier dive destination in the Savu Sea. This reef derives its name from its distinctive curved banana-like shape and offers excellent diving opportunities for intermediate to advanced divers.

The site features a sloping reef structure that descends to depths of 5-40 meters, providing varied exploration options. Divers encounter vibrant coral formations, including hard corals and soft coral gardens that support exceptional marine biodiversity. The reef attracts large pelagic species such as reef sharks, manta rays, and trevally, particularly during strong current conditions.

The surrounding waters teem with smaller reef fish, including fusiliers, snappers, and groupers. Macro life such as nudibranchs and crustaceans can be found among the coral crevices. Strong currents are common, making this site suitable for experienced divers comfortable with drift diving. The nutrient-rich waters of the Sumba Strait create ideal feeding conditions, resulting in dramatic marine encounters and healthy coral ecosystems that make Banana Reef an unforgettable Komodo diving experience.
