Dive Conditions
Turtle Rock is a premier dive destination in Thailand’s renowned Similan Islands, located in the Andaman Sea near Phang Nga. This iconic site features dramatic granite boulder formations that create fascinating swim-throughs and crevices for exploration.
Divers typically encounter depths ranging from 12 to 40 meters, making it suitable for intermediate to advanced divers. The site is characterized by substantial currents, requiring good buoyancy control and experience.
The underwater landscape showcases vibrant coral gardens, including colorful hard and soft corals adorning the rock formations. Marine life is abundant, featuring reef sharks, tuna, giant grouper, snappers, and schools of barracuda. Hawksbill and green sea turtles frequently visit the area, reflecting the site’s name.
Visibility typically ranges from 15 to 30 meters, depending on seasonal conditions. The site offers exceptional macro photography opportunities alongside stunning wide-angle subjects. Best diving conditions occur during the dry season from November to May, when seas are calmer and visibility optimal. Turtle Rock remains a must-dive destination for experienced divers exploring Southeast Asia’s premier underwater destinations.
