Dive Conditions
Richelieu Rock is a pinnacle dive site located in the Similan Islands near Phang Nga, Thailand, rising dramatically from the Andaman Sea. This iconic underwater formation reaches depths of 5-40 meters, making it accessible to intermediate and advanced divers.
The site features a granite rock formation covered in vibrant coral gardens, including soft corals and sea fans. Divers encounter excellent visibility and encounter abundant marine life, including reef sharks, trevally, snappers, groupers, and schools of barracuda. Seasonal visits reveal manta rays and whale sharks, particularly during the cooler months.
The site’s strong currents and surge require solid diving experience and buoyancy control. Multiple swim-throughs and crevices offer exploration opportunities, while the pinnacle’s outer wall drops into deeper water, providing varied diving experiences.
Best dived during the dry season from November to April, Richelieu Rock is considered one of Thailand’s premier dive destinations, combining spectacular marine biodiversity with challenging conditions that reward experienced divers.
