Dive Conditions
Padangbai Ferry Channel is a thrilling drift dive located in Bali’s Lombok Strait, accessible from the busy port village of Padangbai. This intermediate to advanced dive features strong currents that carry divers through a dynamic underwater landscape of coral-covered rocks and sandy slopes descending to approximately 40 meters.
Divers encounter vibrant coral gardens adorned with abundant tropical fish species, including jacks, trevally, snappers, and groupers. The current-swept environment attracts pelagic species such as sharks and rays, creating exciting wildlife encounters. Macro photography enthusiasts appreciate nudibranches, crustaceans, and small reef fish hiding within the coral.
The channel’s primary challenge is its unpredictable current strength, requiring solid buoyancy control and experience. Current conditions vary significantly based on tidal movements and seasonal changes. Proper planning with local guides is essential for safety.
Best suited for divers with at least 50 logged dives, this site offers spectacular marine biodiversity and adrenaline-pumping drift diving typical of the Lombok Strait’s renowned dive destinations.
