Southwest Pinnacle
# Southwest Pinnacle, Koh Tao
Dive Conditions
Southwest Pinnacle is a premier diving destination off Koh Tao in Thailand’s Gulf of Thailand. This underwater formation features dramatic rocky outcrops and boulder structures that rise from depths of 24-40 meters, making it ideal for intermediate to advanced divers.
The pinnacle is renowned for exceptional marine biodiversity. Divers encounter vibrant coral gardens, schools of barracuda, trevally, and snappers, alongside smaller species like nudibranchs and ghost pipefish. Pelagic visitors including reef sharks and occasionally manta rays are frequently spotted in the area.
The site offers excellent visibility, typically 15-25 meters, with strong currents that create dynamic diving conditions. The rocky terrain provides shelter for numerous reef fish and crustaceans, creating a rich ecosystem perfect for underwater photography.
Best dived during the cooler months (November-April), Southwest Pinnacle requires solid buoyancy control and current awareness. The combination of depth, marine life abundance, and geological features makes it one of Koh Tao’s most rewarding advanced dives.
