Dive Conditions
Five Rocks is a premier diving destination located at Gam Island in Waigeo, Raja Ampat Islands, West Papua, Indonesia. This Pacific Ocean site features distinctive rock formations that create an exciting underwater landscape for divers of all levels.
The dive spans depths from 5 to 40 meters, offering flexibility for various experience levels. Divers navigate around the dramatic rock pinnacles and boulders, encountering vibrant coral gardens and abundant marine biodiversity. The site is renowned for its exceptional fish life, including schools of fusiliers, snappers, and trevally that patrol the rocky outcrops.
Macro photography enthusiasts will appreciate the numerous nudibranchs, shrimp, and small crustaceans found throughout the site. Larger pelagic species occasionally pass through the area, adding to the excitement.
The moderate to intermediate difficulty level makes Five Rocks accessible to experienced recreational divers while challenging enough for advanced divers. Strong currents can occur, so proper buoyancy control and experience with drift diving are recommended. The protected waters of the Halmahera Sea provide generally favorable diving conditions.
