Dive Conditions
Samran Pinnacle is a stunning dive site located off Sai Daeng on Koh Tao in Thailand’s Gulf of Thailand. This underwater pinnacle rises from depths of 40 meters, with the top beginning around 5 meters below the surface, making it suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.
The site features dramatic rocky formations covered in vibrant hard and soft corals, creating a thriving ecosystem. Divers encounter schools of barracuda, trevally, and fusiliers, along with occasional reef sharks and rays patrolling the deeper sections. Macro life is abundant, including nudibranchs, crustaceans, and small reef fish among the coral crevices.
Strong currents are common at Samran Pinnacle, requiring solid diving skills and buoyancy control. The best conditions occur during calm season months when visibility reaches 15-20 meters. Night dives reveal nocturnal species and bioluminescent organisms. This site rewards experienced divers with exceptional biodiversity and dramatic underwater topography, making it a highlight of Koh Tao’s dive destinations.
