Shab Umm Gamar is a premier reef dive site located in Qesm Hurghada within Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate. This offshore reef features dramatic coral formations and steep walls that attract divers of all experience levels, though intermediate to advanced skills are recommended for optimal exploration.
Divers descend to depths ranging from 12 to 40 meters, encountering vibrant hard and soft corals adorning the reef structure. The site’s rich marine biodiversity includes reef sharks, groupers, snappers, and schools of fusiliers. Colorful nudibranchs, morays eels, and lionfish are frequently spotted among the coral crevices.
The reef’s distinctive architecture creates exciting underwater topography with overhangs and drop-offs that showcase the Red Sea’s exceptional coral health. Visibility typically exceeds 20 meters, providing excellent conditions for photography and marine observation.
