Shab Manta is a premier diving destination located in Qesm Hurghada, Red Sea Governorate, Egypt. This Indian Ocean reef system offers an exciting underwater experience suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.
The site features a dramatic shallow reef plateau that drops into deeper waters, creating diverse diving opportunities. Divers typically explore depths ranging from 12 to 40 meters, with excellent visibility revealing vibrant coral formations and rocky outcrops.
Marine life encounters are exceptional at Shab Manta. The site is renowned for frequent manta ray sightings, particularly during certain seasons when these graceful giants glide through the reef channels. Divers also encounter reef sharks, groupers, fusiliers, and various colorful reef fish species. The coral gardens support abundant invertebrate life and smaller tropical fish.
The reef structure includes caves and overhangs that attract pelagic species. Currents can be moderate to strong, making proper buoyancy control essential. Best diving conditions occur during calmer months when visibility maximizes opportunities for observing the site’s rich biodiversity and iconic manta encounters.
