Dive Conditions
The Salem Express wreck is a premier Red Sea diving destination located off Qesm Al Qoseir in Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate. This 140-meter passenger ferry sank in 1991 and now rests at depths between 25-65 meters, making it suitable for advanced and technical divers.
Divers exploring this wreck encounter an expansive underwater structure with accessible cabins, corridors, and decks teeming with marine life. The site features vibrant coral growth covering the hull and abundant fish populations including groupers, snappers, and barracuda.
The wreck’s upper sections host schools of fusiliers and jacks, while deeper sections attract larger pelagic species. Soft corals, anemones, and nudibranchs colonize the superstructure, creating a biodiverse ecosystem.
Due to strong currents and significant depths, the Salem Express requires advanced certification and excellent buoyancy control. Penetration diving demands technical training and proper equipment. The combination of challenging conditions and remarkable marine biodiversity makes this wreck an unforgettable experience for qualified divers seeking adventure in the Red Sea.
