Dive Conditions
Ras Umm Sid is a premier reef diving destination located in Sharm El Sheikh, Sinai, offering exceptional underwater experiences in the Red Sea. This site features dramatic coral formations and vibrant coral gardens that descend gradually from shallow waters to depths of 40 meters (130 feet), making it suitable for both intermediate and advanced divers.
Divers encounter spectacular hard and soft corals, including table corals, acropora, and sea fans that create stunning natural architecture. The site’s rich marine life includes reef fish species such as snappers, groupers, parrotfish, and fusiliers. Larger pelagic species occasionally cruise the deeper sections, while moray eels, octopuses, and nudibranchs inhabit the crevices and reef edges.
Strong currents are common at Ras Umm Sid, requiring experienced divers comfortable with drift diving. The site’s sloping topography allows for flexible depth exploration, though deeper sections demand proper training and certification. Visibility typically ranges from 15-30 meters, depending on conditions. Best diving occurs during calmer months. Ras Umm Sid remains one of the Red Sea’s most rewarding reef dives.
