Maaya Thila is a premier diving destination in Ari Atoll, Maldives, renowned for its thriving reef ecosystem and abundant marine life. This submerged thila (reef pinnacle) rises from depths of 40+ meters, with the top platform positioned at approximately 8-12 meters depth, making it ideal for intermediate to advanced divers.

The site features spectacular coral formations, including vibrant hard and soft corals that attract diverse pelagic species. Divers encounter schools of jacks, fusiliers, trevally, and large groupers patrolling the reef edges. Eagle rays, reef sharks, and occasionally hammerheads can be spotted in deeper waters. The nutrient-rich currents support an impressive array of smaller marine life, including nudibranchs, crustaceans, and colorful reef fish.

Maaya Thila’s strong currents and depth demand solid diving experience and proper buoyancy control. The site is best explored as a drift dive following the reef contours. Visibility typically exceeds 25 meters, providing excellent conditions for underwater photography. This is one of Ari Atoll’s most visited sites, offering unforgettable encounters with Maldivian marine biodiversity.
