Horseshoe Reef, located in Qesm Shlatin within Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate, is a stunning reef formation offering excellent diving opportunities for intermediate to advanced divers. This site features a distinctive horseshoe-shaped coral structure that creates a natural amphitheater of vibrant hard and soft corals.
Divers typically explore depths ranging from 15 to 40 meters, with the reef’s outer walls providing dramatic drop-offs and stunning vertical formations. The reef is home to diverse Red Sea marine life, including large pelagic species such as reef sharks, groupers, and trevally, alongside colorful smaller fish species, rays, and nudibranchs.
The site’s currents can be moderate to strong, making it best suited for experienced divers comfortable with drift diving. Excellent visibility, often exceeding 20 meters, provides outstanding photography opportunities and panoramic reef views. The unique horseshoe configuration offers protected inner areas alongside thrilling outer wall descents, making it a versatile dive destination within the Red Sea’s premier diving region.
