Guruwa Faru
# Guruwa Faru Dive Site
Dive Conditions
Guruwa Faru is a premier diving destination in North Male Atoll, offering diverse underwater experiences across varying depths. This faru (reef) features dramatic drop-offs and sloping coral gardens that appeal to intermediate and advanced divers.
Divers explore vibrant hard and soft coral formations hosting abundant marine life including reef sharks, napoleon wrasse, groupers, and schooling barracuda. The site’s channels and overhangs create excellent opportunities for encountering pelagic species, particularly during strong currents that attract larger fish.
Depths range from 5 meters on the shallow coral plateau to 40+ meters at the outer walls, allowing flexibility for different experience levels. The current can be moderate to strong, making drift diving possible. Visibility typically exceeds 20 meters, providing exceptional underwater photography conditions.
Guruwa Faru is accessible year-round but performs best during dry season months when conditions stabilize. Experienced guides recommend morning dives when marine activity peaks. The site’s pristine coral health and consistent fish populations make it a must-visit location in the North Male Atoll.
