Dive Conditions
Fulidhoo Kandu, located in Felidhu Atoll within the Maldives’ Vaavu Atoll region, is a premier Indian Ocean dive destination. This scenic kandu (channel) features dramatic underwater topography with steep walls and vibrant coral formations that attract diverse marine life.
Divers encounter healthy coral gardens, including table corals and branching formations, alongside abundant reef fish species. The site is renowned for pelagic encounters, with regular sightings of reef sharks, tuna, and jacks patrolling the channel. Smaller marine life includes groupers, snappers, and colorful reef fish.
The dive typically ranges from 15-40 meters depth, making it suitable for intermediate to advanced divers. The strong currents common to kandu diving require good buoyancy control and experience. Drift diving is frequently employed here, allowing divers to maximize encounters while navigating the channel.
Fulidhoo Kandu offers excellent visibility during optimal season and provides thrilling opportunities for photographing both macro subjects and large pelagics. The site’s dynamic underwater environment makes it a must-visit location for Maldives dive enthusiasts.
