Felivaru Kandu is a premier drift diving destination in Gaaerifalhu, Lhaviyani Atoll, offering thrilling underwater experiences in the Indian Ocean. This dynamic channel features strong currents that attract abundant pelagic marine life, including reef sharks, eagle rays, and schools of trevally and barracuda.
Divers descend to depths between 10-40 meters, navigating vibrant coral formations and expansive reef walls. The site showcases healthy hard and soft corals, with excellent visibility typically ranging from 20-30 meters. Smaller reef dwellers such as groupers, snappers, and various wrasse species are commonly spotted among the coral gardens.
Felivaru Kandu is best suited for intermediate to advanced divers due to its strong currents and depth. Experience with drift diving is recommended. The site’s geography features a steep outer wall and inner reef plateau, creating diverse diving profiles. Optimal conditions occur during the dry season when currents are most predictable and visibility peaks.
