Dhigu Thila is a premier dive site located in Gulhi, North Male Atoll, within the Kaafu Atoll of the Maldives. This Indian Ocean destination offers an exceptional underwater experience for intermediate to advanced divers.

The site features a dramatic thila (reef pinnacle) that rises from deep water, creating a stunning vertical structure. Divers typically explore depths ranging from 15 to 40 meters, with the thila’s upper portions providing excellent shallow-water alternatives.

Marine life is abundant and diverse. Divers frequently encounter schools of trevally, snappers, and fusiliers, along with reef sharks and rays patrolling the drop-offs. Groupers, sweetlips, and Napoleon wrasse are commonly spotted among the coral formations. The site’s steep walls and overhangs provide ideal habitats for smaller creatures including nudibranchs and crustaceans.

The reef structure displays healthy coral growth, offering vibrant colors and complex formations. Strong currents are common at Dhigu Thila, making it best suited for experienced divers who can handle drift diving conditions. The site’s combination of dramatic topography, abundant pelagic activity, and healthy coral ecosystems makes it a must-visit destination in North Male Atoll.
