# Channel Island Dive Site

Channel Island, located off Waigeo Island in Raja Ampat, offers one of Indonesia’s most spectacular underwater experiences. This Pacific Ocean dive site features depths ranging from 12 to 40 meters, suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.

The channel’s strong currents create a thriving ecosystem teeming with marine life. Divers encounter schools of barracuda, trevally, and snappers, while pelagic species including reef sharks and eagle rays frequently patrol the waters. Colorful coral formations line the channel walls, hosting nudibranchs, sea stars, and moray eels.

Visibility typically exceeds 20 meters, revealing vibrant soft and hard coral gardens. The site’s nutrient-rich waters support dense fish populations, making it ideal for macro and wide-angle photography.

Channel Island’s dynamic currents demand good buoyancy control and experience. Drift diving is common, allowing divers to explore the channel’s length while observing turtles, groupers, and ornate species. The site’s pristine condition reflects Raja Ampat’s reputation as a world-class diving destination in the Halmahera Sea.
