# Banana Reef Dive Site Description
Dive Conditions
Banana Reef is a premier diving destination located in Qesm Hurghada, Red Sea Governorate, Egypt. This iconic reef gets its name from its distinctive curved shape and offers an exceptional underwater experience for divers of various skill levels.
The reef features a stunning coral garden with vibrant hard and soft corals creating a colorful backdrop for marine exploration. Divers typically encounter abundant Red Sea fish species including groupers, snappers, fusiliers, and parrotfish. The site is also known for sightings of moray eels, octopuses, and occasionally larger pelagic species.
Banana Reef descends to depths of approximately 25-40 meters, making it suitable for intermediate to advanced divers. The site offers excellent visibility, typically ranging from 20-30 meters, particularly during calm conditions.
The reef’s sloped structure provides natural progression for exploring different depth zones. Strong currents can occur, requiring proper buoyancy control and experience. Notable features include dramatic walls, crevices, and overhangs that add excitement to the dive.
This Red Sea site remains one of Hurghada’s most popular and rewarding dive locations.
