Shab Shirap is a premier reef diving destination located in Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate, offering exceptional underwater exploration for intermediate to advanced divers. This dramatic reef formation features steep walls and pinnacles that descend to depths of 40-60 meters, creating a thrilling vertical diving experience.
Divers encounter vibrant coral gardens teeming with diverse marine life, including schooling barracuda, trevally, and large groupers. The site is renowned for pelagic encounters, with sharks and rays frequently patrolling the blue water. Smaller species such as lionfish, scorpionfish, and numerous colorful reef fish inhabit the coral structures.
The challenging currents and considerable depth make Shab Shirap suitable for experienced divers with solid navigation and deep-diving skills. Multiple entry points allow flexibility depending on conditions. The reef’s complex topography—combining walls, overhangs, and sandy slopes—provides varied dive profiles and excellent opportunities for photography.
