Dive Conditions
Pulau Yum, located near Batanta Island in Raja Ampat’s pristine waters, offers an exceptional diving experience in Indonesia’s most biodiverse marine region. This site features dramatic underwater topography with steep walls, coral gardens, and sandy slopes descending to depths of 5-40 meters, suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.
Divers encounter vibrant hard and soft corals teeming with tropical fish species, including fusiliers, groupers, and snappers. The nutrient-rich Halmahera Sea attracts larger pelagic species such as reef sharks, barracuda, and occasionally manta rays. Macro enthusiasts will appreciate abundant nudibranchs, crustaceans, and small reef dwellers.
Strong currents are common, requiring solid buoyancy control and experience. The best diving conditions occur during the dry season. Water temperatures range from 26-30°C year-round, and visibility typically reaches 15-30 meters, though seasonal variations occur.
Pulau Yum exemplifies Raja Ampat’s reputation as one of the world’s premier diving destinations, combining spectacular marine biodiversity with challenging reef and wall diving opportunities.
