Dive Conditions
Castle Rock is a premier dive site located in the Flores Sea near Gili Lawalaut in Komodo, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This challenging dive features a dramatic rock formation that rises from depths of 40+ meters, creating stunning underwater topography and strong currents that attract abundant marine life.
Divers encounter vibrant coral gardens, schools of trevally, mackerel, and barracuda, alongside reef sharks and occasionally manta rays. The site’s rocky outcrops and crevices provide habitat for groupers, snappers, and colorful reef fish. Nudibranchs and other macro life populate the reef.
With depths reaching 50 meters or more and often unpredictable currents, Castle Rock is best suited for advanced and experienced divers. Strong water movement requires excellent buoyancy control and fitness. Optimal diving conditions occur during specific seasons when currents are more manageable.
This spectacular site rewards skilled divers with exceptional biodiversity and dramatic seascapes characteristic of Komodo’s world-class diving destinations.
