# Kata Reef North

Kata Reef North is a popular diving destination located off the coast of Phuket in Southern Thailand’s Andaman Sea. This reef system offers excellent visibility and diverse marine ecosystems suitable for divers of varying experience levels.

The reef features dramatic rock formations, coral gardens, and sandy patches that create an engaging underwater landscape. Divers encounter vibrant coral species, including hard and soft corals that support abundant marine life.

Common sightings include tropical fish species, rays, octopuses, and occasionally reef sharks. The area’s rich biodiversity makes it ideal for macro and wide-angle photography.

Diving depths typically range from 12 to 25 meters, with the deepest sections reaching approximately 28 meters. Kata Reef North is suitable for intermediate to advanced divers, though sections exist for beginners under proper guidance. Moderate currents are common, particularly on the reef’s outer edge.

The site experiences excellent conditions during Thailand’s dry season from November to April, when visibility peaks at 15-25 meters. The Andaman Sea’s warm tropical waters make year-round diving possible.
