Donagali Thila is a premier diving destination located in Ari Atoll, Maldives, offering an exceptional underwater experience in the Indian Ocean. This submerged pinnacle features a dramatic thila formation with steep walls and a relatively shallow top, making it accessible for intermediate to advanced divers.
The site showcases vibrant coral gardens with abundant hard and soft corals adorning the reef structure. Divers typically encounter impressive marine life including reef sharks, tuna schools, jacks, and barracudas patrolling the open water. Smaller species such as groupers, snappers, and colorful reef fish are frequently spotted around the coral formations.
Depths range from approximately 5 to 40 meters, with the main dive taking place between 20-35 meters. Strong currents are common, requiring solid buoyancy control and previous drift diving experience. The thila’s pinnacle structure creates interesting exploration opportunities with overhangs and crevices that shelter additional marine species.
