Dive Conditions
Himmafushi Kandu is a premier drift diving destination in North Male Atoll, Maldives, renowned for its exceptional marine biodiversity and dynamic underwater topography. Located in the Kaafu Atoll, this kandu (channel) features steep coral walls and a sloping reef structure descending to depths of 40 meters.
Divers encounter vibrant hard and soft corals adorning the reef, creating stunning visual landscapes. The site’s strong currents attract abundant pelagic marine life, including reef sharks, tuna, jacks, and barracuda schools. Eagle rays and manta rays are frequently spotted during specific seasons, particularly between March and October.
The reef walls host colorful reef fish, moray eels, and crustaceans among crevices and overhangs. Visibility typically ranges from 20-40 meters, depending on tidal conditions.
Himmafushi Kandu suits intermediate to advanced divers due to its variable currents and deeper sections. The drift diving experience requires good buoyancy control and comfort with open-water navigation. This site offers an exhilarating blend of coral beauty and pelagic encounters, making it a must-dive location in the Maldives.
