# Stairs Dive Site – Meeru, North Male Atoll
Dive Conditions
Stairs is a popular dive site located at Meeru in the North Male Atoll, Kaafu Atoll, Maldives. This Indian Ocean destination offers an exciting underwater experience suitable for intermediate divers.
The dive features a dramatic coral-covered slope that descends gradually, resembling natural steps—hence its name. Divers typically explore depths ranging from 12 to 40 meters, encountering vibrant hard and soft corals along the wall.
Marine life at Stairs is abundant and diverse. Expect to see reef sharks, including blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, along with schooling barracuda, trevally, and snappers. The site also hosts colorful reef fish, napoleon wrasse, and occasionally spotted eagle rays and manta rays during season.
The healthy coral formations provide excellent photographic opportunities, while strong currents are common, making this site best suited for divers with some experience. Visibility typically ranges from 15 to 30 meters, depending on conditions.
