# Tin Thila Dive Site
Dive Conditions
Tin Thila is a premier thila (reef pinnacle) dive site located in Vihamaafaru, Ari Atoll, Maldives. This underwater formation rises from depths of 30-40 meters, with its peak reaching approximately 5-8 meters below the surface, making it suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.
The site features dramatic coral-covered rock formations teeming with diverse marine life. Divers encounter large pelagic species including reef sharks, trevally, and groupers, while the thila’s slopes are adorned with vibrant soft corals and sea fans. Schools of barracuda and fusiliers create dynamic viewing opportunities.
The challenging currents typical of thila diving require good buoyancy control and experience. Visibility typically ranges from 15-25 meters, providing excellent observation of the reef ecosystem. Night dives reveal nocturnal species including octopus and various crustaceans.
Tin Thila is best dived during the dry season (November-April) when conditions are most favorable. This site delivers an unforgettable experience of the Indian Ocean’s rich biodiversity and is ideal for photographers seeking dramatic reef and marine wildlife encounters.
