Bondu Giri is a pristine dive site located in Gaafu Alif Atoll within the Maldives, situated in the Indian Ocean’s depths. This intermediate-level dive destination features a dynamic reef environment with depths ranging from 12 to 40 meters, offering diverse underwater exploration opportunities.
Divers encounter vibrant coral formations, including hard and soft corals that create a colorful backdrop for marine encounters. The site’s rich biodiversity includes reef sharks, eagle rays, and schools of trevally and barracuda. Sea turtles and groupers are frequently spotted navigating the reef structures.
The site’s topography consists of sloping reef walls and coral-covered boulders that create interesting swim-throughs and crevices. Strong currents occasionally flow through the area, making it suitable for divers with moderate experience. Visibility typically ranges from 20 to 40 meters, depending on seasonal conditions.
Bondu Giri is best suited for divers holding Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent experience, particularly when drift diving during peak current periods. The combination of healthy coral, abundant marine life, and varied terrain makes it a rewarding destination for Maldivian atoll diving.
