Middle Reef in Qesm Safaga, Red Sea, is an excellent diving destination suitable for intermediate to advanced divers. Located in Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate, this reef system offers depths typically ranging from 12 to 40 meters, accommodating various skill levels.
The site features stunning coral formations, including vibrant hard and soft corals that create a colorful underwater landscape. Divers encounter abundant marine life including reef sharks, barracuda schools, groupers, and numerous smaller reef fish species. The clear Red Sea waters provide excellent visibility, typically 20-30 meters, making it ideal for underwater photography.
Middle Reef’s unique topography includes coral-covered slopes and drop-offs that attract diverse pelagic species. The moderate current can be present, requiring proper buoyancy control and experience. The reef’s healthy ecosystem showcases the Red Sea’s renowned biodiversity, making it a rewarding dive for those seeking authentic reef experiences.
This site is accessible from Safaga’s dive operators and is best suited for divers with open water certification or higher. Seasonal conditions are favorable year-round, though summer months offer optimal visibility and calmest conditions.
