Shaab El Mathaf is a premier diving destination located in Qesm Marsa Alam within Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate. This reef site offers exceptional underwater experiences suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.
The site features stunning coral formations with dramatic drop-offs and vibrant reef structures teeming with life. Divers typically explore depths ranging from 20 to 40 meters, with experienced divers venturing deeper to discover more remote sections.
Marine life is abundant, including colorful reef fish, groupers, snappers, and schools of jacks. Encounters with pelagic species such as rays and sharks are common. The nutrient-rich waters support diverse hard and soft coral ecosystems, creating a visually spectacular environment.
The dive difficulty is moderate to challenging, requiring solid buoyancy control and experience with deeper water diving. Strong currents can occur, making it essential for divers to possess solid underwater navigation skills.
